SYNOPSIS (with spoilers)

THE PHROGGER is a drama/thriller cross between Parasite and Hider in the House. The movie opens on RILEY, a trans teen running down a residential street, trying to find a place to hide from her ultra-religious parents after escaping from a “conversion therapy” bootcamp.

 

Riley finds a home to hide in, unbeknownst to the family of three that live there. Soon, however, she discovers that the father KURT, has been molesting EMMA, his 6-year old daughter.

 

Risking her own safety, Riley sets up a nanny cam that catches Kurt in the act and triggers a police visit where SHERYL, Kurt’s wife and mother of Emma, finds out about Kurt’s horrendous crimes.

 

No longer safely hidden, Riley is caught trespassing in another home and arrested. At the police station, OFFICER BURTON, Riley’s father, takes custody of her and locks her in his basement.

 

In the basement, Riley’s parents force her to undergo a religious “exorcism” and diy electroshock therapy. Near her breaking point, Riley manages to fight back and escape.

 

Riley makes her way back to Sheryl and Emma’s house where Burton finds her. After a standoff between Burton and other fellow officers, Burton and Riley’s mother are arrested and Riley is taken to a group home for teens.

 

In the epilogue, the Burtons are sentenced and Riley finds a safe, accepting foster home with Sheryl and Emma.
